The Role

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and management of risks with regard to the legal and regulatory requirements, as well as the internal policies.
  • Ensures, by means of an appropriate internal control system, that all material risks are determined, assessed, controlled and monitored.
  • Communicates the regulatory and internal standards to the employees.
  • Supports, advises and sensitises the Management and the employees in the execution and monitoring of risk.
  • Supports and advises the Management in monitoring compliance with all applicable legal requirements and any orders, circulars and policies issued by the authorities, codes of conduct promulgated by the relevant self-regulating organisations as well as the internal policies of the Company in respect of the risks of the Company.
  • Training the employees in questions concerning rules relating to regulations and policies in respect of risk issues through meetings with all employees on a quarterly basis.
  • Supports and advises employees responsible for offering as regards cross-border risks.
  • Preparation & communication of policies approved by the Board of Directors in which the regulatory and internal standards and rules for the business activities and their risks of the Company are set out in detail.
  • Controls and assesses the adequacy and the effectiveness of the approved internal policies and codes of conduct and submits to the Management any proposed changes or additions.
  • Assesses the necessity of issuing any further policies and prepares the corresponding drafts for approval by Management.
  • Assessment once every year of the risks of the business activities of the Company.
  • Preparation of risk guidelines with regard to an overview of the risks of the Company.
  • Support BCB Group’s overall risk management requirements as needed.
  • Reporting duties:
  • Submission of reports to Management and, where applicable, to the Board of Directors and the auditor.
  • Reporting to Management regularly on the risks of the Company.
  • Informing Management and the Board of Directors in a timely manner of significant changes in the assessment of risk and serious breaches in respect of risk & support in deciding on the appropriate measures to take.
  • Reporting to Management immediately following an ad hoc event.
  • Support in coordinating the relationships of the Company with the regulatory and financial auditor.

 

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Strong risk management experience in a financial institution in Switzerland.
  • Good understanding of payments schemes (SIC / EuroSIC, SEPA, SWIFT).
  • Previous exposure to cryptocurrencies in a risk context is a plus.
  • Good understanding of the regulatory requirements of risk management (FINMA) for non-prudentially supervised firms.
  • Fundamental understanding of OTC trading workflows.
  • Fundamental understanding of bank treasury needs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Can-do approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high growth environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written English and German language skills.
  • Experience with derivative instruments is a plus.
  • Entrepreneurship mindset, skills or experience.
  • Management of stakeholders and their expectations.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver on a common goal.
  • Experience with a definition of a basic risk framework across multiple legal entities.
  • FRM, BTRM certificates are a plus.
  • Masters Degree or equivalent.
  • Creative thinker.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
